mordor

McCain is his own Reverend Wright – the more he opens his mouth, the deeper he digs his hole with conservatives like me. Everyone but McCain agrees that he needs the conservative vote to win in November. McCain himself appears to believe he can siphon off enough moderate Democrat votes to prevail, so he snubs us and plows ahead.

The more he says, the more I realize that there’s little reason to go out and vote for McCain in November. Yes, the alternative is depressing, but let’s look at the scorecard and see what will net the most conservative outcome for us.

These issues are lost to us whomever is elected:

Defense of Marriage – ain’t gonna happen with any of them. There will be no will to stop any pro-homosexual judge, mayor, governor, etc from declaring that homosexual marriage is heretofore legal in his or her state. It’s already started in California in direct opposition to the will of the people.

Amnesty for illegal aliens – It’s comin’, folks. Any of the 3 will see to it. McCain says he will secure the border first (no doubt with those “virtual” fences that only stop virtual illegals).

Close Guantanamo – not so bad perhaps, but part two of that action is giving the detainees there access to our courts instead of a military tribunal. How much do you think that will cost and how do you think that will turn out given our domestic courts track record with violent criminals?

Environmental regulations – All of McCain’s hoohah about market-driven environmentalism is just that. If there were any payoff whatsoever, the market would be driving it now. People drive hybrids to save money and fit in with their crowd. Companies are happy to provide that service. Signing on to the Kyoto Protocols or some other green weenie agreement will cost American businesses and consumers far more than anyone else in the world. Why impose strident regulations based on a science that is far from conclusive?

Homeland security – McCain opposes “torture”, so no more panties on the head for those guys. He also opposes domestic wiretapping of terror suspects. All in all we’ll have fewer and less productive resources for the protection of our citizens.

Higher taxes – The Democrat candidates aren’t shy about it. McCain’s environmental policies and amnesty plan will cost us much more than simply letting the Bush tax cuts expire.

Here are some issues where we have some hope, but don’t count on it. McCain is a follower. He doesn’t cast a vision and ask people to join him, he’s the guy that signs on with others against his own party. By virtue of being a high profile turncoat, he looks like a leader to some people:

Judges – He says he will appoint conservative judges. He also says that he himself is a conservative. He will appoint people like himself like most presidents do. His appointments may be marginally conservative, but unlike politicians who influence policy, a Supreme Court Justice is just a vote. Is Breyer more conservative than Ginsburg? Maybe, but if they vote the same, what difference does it make?

Abortion – McCain doesn’t oppose abortion on moral grounds. After all, he supports stem cell research. At best he will be a neutral influence in this area. However, given his penchant to appease, he could go south on this issue in the interest of “reaching across the aisle” Don’t count on him.

The war – McCain is running now as a moderate Republican. He is vying for the same votes Barak or Hillary will be after. If he wins, he will owe his election to those people (he believes we conservatives must vote for him). I know I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think McCain is a pricipled man - I think he is a purely political man. What has he stood up for against the odds? What issue has he lead the conservative fight on? I think McCain is more likely to pull out of Iraq prematurely than either Barak or Hillary.

Democrats do NOT want to be hung with pulling out of Iraq and have it fall to terrorists resulting in massive purges like Vietnam. They will stay until it is stabilized even if it is stabilized under a repressive Shia regime controlled by Iran.

McCain does not have the gonads to take the abuse that Bush took for his convictions - no, he will pull them out at the first opening. Democratic government in the mideast be damned!

Maybe I’m being too Machiavellian about this, but it seems to me as I look at the future and take clues from the past that as conservatives (not Republicans) we will be, at best, only marginally worse off socially and no worse off economically with the Democrats in control.

But what makes the case for me is that 4 years of liberals in charge of this country may shake up the party enough to realize that Republicans without conservatives are just another brand of looser. Republicans need to start purging the party in a major way starting at the local level until someone comes through the fire to lead a new conservative movement.

smartmoney

I don’t think Obama is intellectually vacuous and vapid in the same sense that Brittany Spears is. However, in the context of cognizance at the level one must have for the job he wants…he is Curly. Unfortunately, John McCain would be Moe, so we’re only slightly less screwed under that scenario. That leaves Hillary as…well, you catch my drift, right?

I’m getting the impression that the "smart money" thinks so too. Actually ALL money is smart….eventually. It leaves dumb people and goes to live with smart people. That’s why rappers use "money" as an adjective.

I hate using anecdotal evidence for any argument, but I’ll try one on you anyway. My brother just lost his job. That’s not unusual, it happens all the time and that is no more evidence of an economic downturn than a soldier being killed or injured in Iraq is evidence of the surge not working. No, what is significant about this is that my brother builds hot rods. These are not flip flop paint jobs and spinner hubcaps on a lowered hoopdi. He builds serious, show quality cars. He’s good.

Now, we live in the south and although, contrary to the stereotype, not everyone here is a car nut, there are plenty of them. We have great wide spaces to drive and explore - places a subway or a bus doesn’t or can’t go. Gas powered vehicles in the south are more than transportation, they are freedom, rebellion, lust and ambition. I’m not a car guy myself, but even I know the smell of a gas engine running too rich (and frankly I like it).

My point is that there are certain things that people in different cultures, even different societies aspire to, not just desire. Hot rods here in the south are such items. I’ve seen hotrods in his shop waiting on more money that took years to comlete. People don’t give up this dream easily.

So why has the hot rod money dried up all of a sudden? My point is that "smart money" wants to stay with smart people, so they (the smart people) are preparing for the hit. I got this same "vibe" nearing the end of Clinton’s presidency - like no one was in charge, no one was paying attention. Then Bush came along and we said "thank God - an adult !" - the market bounced back and we went back to playing golf, boating and building hot rods. There are no adults coming to the rescue this time and we all know it.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m not. You can say McCain is a fiscal conservative all you want, but giving 20 million illegal immigrants amnesty and instant access to everything America offers is going to cost this country PLENTY. So will giving the terrorists at Guantanamo access to our courts, so will buying oil from the mideast instead of drilling in ANWAR, so will signing onto Kyoto or something like it, so will all the other capitulations to liberals that he is famous for.

Except for McCain’s military service, the most responsibility any of these candidates has had is for 1/100th of a decision in the Senate. They’ve never even run a gas station, much less a city, state, or country!

Yeah, yeah, yeah - I hear your argument for the lesser of 2 evils vote. But, I feel like a guy setting a pick on a basketball court - notice where the hands go - I’m going to take the hit, but for the smart folks, it’s all about protecting the money; and it’s never too early for that.

Let’s see now. Thus far Barak Obama’s platform for a presidential run includes:

Sex education for kindergarteners. Oh, I’m sorry - “age appropriate” sex education for kindergarteners. Well, first of all they would need to know what sex IS. Do you want these people explaining it to your 5 year old?

Iran and Syria will be responsible for Iraq once we surrender and pull out. Obama sees these Islamic facist states as the countries that will bring stability to the region “if” Iraq falls. What could be more absurd than trusting Iran and Syria to stabilize Iraq?

Open-ended, unconditional meetings with dictators and tyrants from around the world. I guess he’s thinking sort of a “Danny Glover” diplomacy - maybe hook up to do a flick together, or a joy ride with Kim Jong Il and Ted Turner to look at the skinny people there in Korea.

Seriously now. Any one of these positions would be enough to sink a presidential run anytime close the the election. Imagine a debate between Fred Thompson and Barak Obama. Obama has just advocated sex education for kindergarteners. Obama’s time runs out and Thompson just stands and stares at him…incredulous - Obama would never recover.

In these strange days however, the fever swamp leftists demand their pound of flesh from their candidates and they comply. This is who controls the Democratic party. Edwards can send his wife out to defend him when someone calls him a bad name, Clinton can do her black face routine complete with carnival barker accent and no one even thinks it’s strange. (She claims it as being “bi-lingual”). Kucinich wants to have a Department of Peace and Non-violence and teach the military “complimentary approaches to ending violence”!

Anyway, during this primary season Soros and moveon.org are driving that bus, but eventually one of them will have to face the American public as a candidate for president and it will require more than giving up tangerines for global warming to convince them they can run this country.

………………………..I hope

hamas

Jihadia Salafiya is suspected of attacking a United Nations school in Gaza last month, after the school allowed boys and girls to participate in the same sporting event. One person was killed in that attack.
‘Christians Must Accept Islamic Rule’

Here’s a post from January 2006 where I encouraged Israel to act immediately to secure Gaza in advance of Hamas’ governance (well…sort of). But did they listen to me? Now they are here and push has come to shove.

Unfortunately, Israel is still under the vapid leadership of Ehud Ohlmert who gave Israel it’s only military defeat in the modern era last summer against Hezbollah. Then to add insult to injury, Ehud Barak was sworn in as defense minister Monday evening. (His defense plan is to give Israel away so it does not need to be defended)

Palestinians have no compunction about telling lies and see truth as irrelevant, the former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak has claimed in an interview.
Guardian Unlimited 5/23/2002

Iran still acts with impunity continuing to develop it’s nuclear weapons program which is aimed at the destruction of Israel by their own admission. Hezbollah operates unhindered to her North, further emboldened by last summer’s route of the Israel Army, and the West Bank pushes in the fences and leans into the walls seeking to gobble up more land as it’s reward for the murder of innocents.

The people of Israel wisely want elections advanced so they can dump Olhert for Benjamin Netanyahu and the assurance that a military solution to Israel’s problems are NEVER off the table.

Look, to be honest with you I have tickets to visit Israel in September 2008, so just do me favor; elect Netanyahu, re-occupy Gaza, clean up the northern borber with Lebanon and finish that wall around the West Bank.

Result? A big victory for Democracy, civilization AND I get an uneventful , enjoyable trip to the holy land.

Come on - waddaya say? Hmmmm?

amnesty

Yeah - about that post below… I thought I was despondent before, but NOW…

I’m a “true believer”. Being a TB means I am conservative even if it means we Republicans loose power, influence, loose the battle or even the war. I’m a conservative on principle. I knew there were a few of the “other kind” in the Senate and House - opportunists, personality disorders and bored rich kids with nothing else to do… Hagel, Spector, McCain, etc. but imagine my shock to find out that our party is a veritable hotbed of CONservatives. Kyl, Graham, McConnell, etc.

That’s right - their motto was commandeered from our friend on my header for this page - Groucho: “Those are my principles. If you don’t like them…I have others”.

They are not going to actually come out and say what it is we all know - 20 million is a huge constituency and if the Republicans allow the Democrats to pass amnesty on their own - they will OWN that constituency. These CONservatives are just trying to retain a piece of that pie for the future of the Republican party.

Well and good then; but what deal with the devil has ever been struck that did not require a soul? The soulof the Republican Party has always been, and will ever be - conservatism. No deal with Teddy Ken…er…the devil can do anything but dilute it.

Amnesty is going to bite someone in the ass. If the Dems pass it on their own, they will be spinning plates for the next 25 years trying to balance the appeasement of yet another needy constituency without hacking off other minorities. In the meantime, Republicans may be able to make inroads as they loosen their grip on other victim classes.

If the Republicans help pass it - guess what? 11 to 20 million American CITIZENS (who can now VOTE) are going to be told that Republicans are responsible for requiring more from them than other American Citizens. “We didn’t want to make you learn English, pay a fine, get a tamper-proof card, but the Republicans insisted because they are racists.” Republicans will then spend the next 30 years trying to crawl out of that hole like they have with African Americans since the 60’s.

Republicans: stand now on the rule of law, build a fence, deport the criminals, require tamper-proof ID’s, severely truncate ALL Mexican immigration, and let the American people run to you for leadership. Neglect it and be irrelevant for the next 8 and possibly the next 30 years.

The Presidential candidate that promises all this will be elected…SOMEBODY…ANYBODY…PLEASE!

And finally, here are some inspiring quotes from our Republican leaders. The next Reagan is not in this crowd:

Michael Chertoff on Ted Kennedy:
“He’s Awesome!”

Lindsey Graham:
“I’m a member of the United States Senate who believes it’s my job to work with Democrats to do hard things”
“This legislation is not amnesty”

President George Bush
“This bill is not amnesty”

John Mcain
“It’s not amnesty”

John Kyl
“…you have to make concessions to Democrats”
“I don’t think it’s amnesty”

Guess what?

It’s amnesty.

International, TerrorismJanuary 5, 2007 9:38 pm

I know - it’s been a long time, but I have been so disgusted with Republicans I got tired of trying to stay with them on their long, strange trip into Democratic appeasment-land. So, I’m waiting for us to find our gonads and be re-energized or else nominate Juiani McCain and slit my throat (that’s hyperbole, by the way, not a promise). With all the Republican self flagellation going on, I couldn’t help but let someone know there is one left who believes.

I’m sorry that there appears to be a state of civil war in Iraq, but what does it have to do with anything really? In the past 60 years Iraq has been in a constant state of war of some sort - starting with a violent military revolution in 1958, another violent coup in 1963, war with the Kurds in 1974, a 9 year War with Iran in 1979 and the invasion of Kuwait & the succeeding Gulf war in 1990. Not to mention the requisite purgings after each coup and Saddam, Uday and Qusay’s dalliances with mass murder.

Frankly, a civil war beats the hell out of your government just unilaterally killing you as Saddam Hussein did. At least in a state of civil war you have a fighting chance to survive and redeem your nation.

That is not my point, however. Although I know it is de rigueur to decry the current state of affairs in Iraq whether you are liberal or conservative, I am happy with the outcome of this war right now. If we left today, I think it was a success. Here’s why:

First off, we did not go into Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction, we went in to ascertain that there were, or were not such weapons. Saddam had ample opportunity to present proof of the destruction of those weapons and he chose not to do so. The United States required the assurance of their non-existence for obvious reasons. We tried to find out the nice way.

We have rendered Iraq unable to make war – on us or her neighbors. They also no longer host terrorist training camps, hide terrorist leaders or support terrorist groups around the globe financially. This is a good thing.

Iraq is now a democracy and thus, as an entity in the world community, is inherently more stable than it ever was as the brainchild of one evil maniac. It doesn’t look like America, but then, America didn’t look like America in 1779 either.

An undisputed, brutal and oppressive dictator who was responsible for the deaths of millions of his countrymen is dead. Yesssssss!

And finally, thousands upon thousands of Islamic terrorists from around the globe have come to Iraq to allow our soldiers, marines and sailors to send them to Allah. (Now that’s a win – win situation).

Unfortunately, Iraq has not stabilized the way we would like. That’s too bad, but it certainly doesn’t tip the scales over to a defeat. As Iraqi wars go, this “civil war” if that is what it is, is a cake walk. If Iraq will hold fast, those insurgents will leave because they ultimately cannot hold Iraq even if they were to win it. They can only disrupt it, and there are far better places to disrupt than Iraq in their fevered economy once the U.S. leaves.

By any reasonable accounting, this war is a success for America and for the world. George Bush should be lauded as a visionary and a man of courage to have seen it through in the face of such resistance.

I guess neither the Democrats nor Republicans will have me now.

ImmigrationMay 2, 2006 5:12 pm

To the contrary, it was a day that showed we have more illegal immigrants than we know what to do with.

No, this was like the burglar in your house waking you up to tell you he wants you to make him a sandwich, and by the way, could you load up his car with your stuff? What will you do? Make the snack, load him up, unlock your door and wait for more to come?

Yes, some of our favorite places were closed, some businesses could not operate, but guess what? This is America and NO ONE is indespensible. The smart employers will dismiss anyone that did not show up for work and consumers will boycott those businesses that closed in support of amnesty. They can easily be replaced.

These are illegal immigrants and they are demanding their "rights". So - what right does anyone have who has entered this country illegally?

1. The right to a driver’s license in some states

2. The right to emergency medical care

3. Access to public schools for their children

4. Access to public housing

5. Access to many other social services.

6. Access to our legal system when they commit crimes.

We have made a tactical error due to our own beneficence. While Mexico’s best and brightest stay behind to run the country, the universities and businesses, the dregs of their society cross the border to enjoy a life they could never hope to have in the country they love.

The Mexican flags waving at these protests tell you what you need to know about the mindset of these illegals; They want what sugar daddy offers, but their hearts are back home with their good-for-nothing, lazy boyfriend. They will never contribute, much less sacrifice to preserve this country. It’s a meal ticket. Nothing more.

It’s admirable, in a "lowest common denominator" sort of way, to want to provide more for your family, I would definitely want to come to America if I were Mexican, but any honorable man or woman wants to do that. One of the great things about America is that people throughout our history have been willing to sacrifice so others could do better, so others could experience freedom. These people are not even willing to obey our laws - do you think they would sacrifice anything for you?

Take a sober look at what is going on. These are not the teeming masses of immigrants our grandparents came over with. People willing to work hard, proud to be called Americans. These are seething masses, demanding  to be supported, offering, at best, a hyphenated allegiance to this great country.

America can never turn away immigrants. It is our heritage, our bloodline, our strength. But we must turn away criminals. Failure to do so dishonors everyone who followed the rules, and paid the price of citizenship.

We need to seal our southern border now and deport illegal aliens - they can come back - the right way. So - how do you deport 11 million people? The same way they got here - one at a time.

Just for laughs here are some signs from our local amnesty march;

More Israelis blew up today while a Palestinian suicide bomber was trying to make a justified political statement. The European Union has demanded that Israel apologize for having less than 10 people die in this effort.

Palestinians: Tel Aviv Bombing Justified

The European Union, which has cut off aid to the Hamas-led government, also denounced the bombing and called for restraint by both sides.

Breitbart.com

Restraint by both sides? Meaning what - that the Israelis should restrain their bodies from blowing apart too violently?

And this from the “enlightened ones”! A little American common sense would go a long way for these useful idiots.

“All of us have voices in our heads, whispering insanities. Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s problem is that she lets hers speak.”

slate.com

cynthia

You know Cynthia McKinney? Right? The serial police assaulter? Well, I love her. And so should every good conservative. Here’s her resume;

1. She’s racist
2. She’s a conspiracy theorist
3. She’s anti-war
4. She’s anti-American
5. She’s a member of World Can’t Wait
6. She is against school vouchers
7. She is for partial birth and every other kind of abortion
8. She supports reparations for slavery
9. She supports seeking UN approval for US military action

She is wrong on virtually EVERY SINGLE MAJOR ISSUE in politics today. And that brings me to the main reason I love Cynthia McKinney -
10. SHE IS A DEMOCRAT

cynthia
Now, the Democrats may say she is an extreme example of the most left leaning in her party and not representative of the mainstream. However true that may be, she is nonetheless an example of what is ACCEPTABLE to Democrats as an elected official in their America.

As “big tent” as we Republicans are, we’d ask anyone to leave our tent that held the views Ms. McKinney embraces (just like we did with David Duke). There are not enough gonads in the Democratic Party to do the same in 2006.

I’m really sorry that she is from the great state of Georgia. I have no explaination for why the usually well grounded, intelligent people of that red state would elect this lunatic, but, they have and the rest of America is obliged to deal with her. For some, the best use of their life is as an example of what not to do, be, think or act like. In that capacity, Cynthia serves America well.

You might think it was a bad idea for the Palestinians to elect Hamas to run their..what?..country? Is it a country? a nation? An idea?

It may not be such a bad idea after all. First, because it doesn’t really matter who runs Palestine - they produce nothing - no industry, no natural resources, no GDP; nothing but bombs and babies - boy, do they produce babies. That’s how they can afford to waste so many by teaching them to throw rocks at people with guns. They are not even getting the $25,000 per suicide bomber that Iraq used to send them. Their economy is entirely dependent on the U.N. and the U.S..

That kind of “quasi-detente” where Israel has to pretend that Palestine is a legitimate nation and Palestine has to pretend that they don’t want to blow Israel off the map can be put aside now and Israel can face her enemy as her enemy. And that could be a very good thing. Not for Palestine, though.

So, why did they do it? Why did they overwhelmingly elect Hamas to run their govenment? I believe it is a direct result of Sharon’s Gaza withdrawal and capitulation to the terrorists. Disingagement indeed! Their enemies emboldened, they seek now to confront Israel directly. Hamas has made no secret that they believe terrorism is the resaon Gaza was given to them and they intend to stay the course until they control Jerusalem.

In Palestinian-controlled Gaza last week, virtually everyone The Sunday Telegraph spoke to said that Israel’s indihar, or retreat, had been forced by the scores of young suicide bombers who have killed more than 1,000 Israeli civilians in the five-year-long intifada, or uprising.

In Beirut, a Hamas spokesman, Khaled Mashaal, was defiant. “The resistance and the steadfastness of our people forced the Zionists to withdraw,” he declared last week. “The armed struggle is the only strategy that Hamas possesses. As long as Palestinian lands remain under occupation, Hamas won’t lay down its weapons.”

With many Palestinians genuinely believing that the intifada forced Israel’s withdrawal in Gaza, there is widespread support for using similar terror tactics to prompt the Israelis to withdraw from the West Bank.

news.telegraph

The best part of a Hamas run government , however, may be that even the most liberal politicians in Israel must now face reality. Iran’s intentions towards them are clear. Their arch nemeses now control their closest neighbor. the UN is feckless and impotent and the U.S. is busy engaging their common enemy elsewhere in the world.

Only a fool would stand and throw rocks at a tank, unless they knew for certain the tank would not fire on them.

Push the red button Mr. Tank Driver!! Push the red button!!
