Here’s some interesting stuff. Apparently Iranians needed clarification on some of the finers points of Sharia (Islamic Law). Some of this makes us laugh, but why? As Americans living in a free nation, we can’t imagine anyone expecting, much less demanding we adhere to such frivolous, even whimsical “laws”. (more…)

Florida courts uphold parental notification! Oh, my bad - that’s for naval piercing, not abortions.

(CNN) — With the dawn of October on Friday, a plethora of new state laws go into effect around the United States, including Florida’s new ban on people younger than 18 having anything but their ears pierced without parental permission.

No, abortions are to be done at the child’s request. Perfectly legal. It’s a constitutional right! It’s in there, believe me!

The case stirred concerns among civil libertarians who argued the child had a constitutional right to decide to have an abortion under state law and condemned the Florida government’s attempts to interfere in personal rights.

However, it’s still illegal to get pregnant in the first place at age 13. Statutory rape is punishable with prison terms up to 40 years in Florida.

So, to review:

Tatoos: illegal under 18 without parents permission.
Lip piercing: illegal under 18 without parents permission.
Sex, Pregnancy: illegal under 17.
Abortion: legal at 13 with no other permission.

No political agendas here.

guns
Now THIS is great political humor. On the surface the cartoon is funny because of the irony. The gun control opponent is using a gun on the gun proponent. But what is REALLY funny is that the ignoramus cartoonist unintentionally illustrates the narcissism and intellectual dishonesty of his own position!

Instead of showing a dis-interested party turning the tables on the pro-gun guy, thereby illustrating the danger of the new law, he shows his own side (girlie liberals) adopting the other’s position because it is expedient and convenient for the moment, illustrating for us why the law is needed in the first place.

Art [sic] imitates life!
